I cannot believe America's NARD Drum Solos is back in print! First used this book WAY back in the 1960s, as NARD was drawing its last breath (demise was in December 1977, I understand, but communication with Bill Ludwig back in about 1969-70 indicated it was already defunct), and learned every solo, by heart...must have played each one (literally) dozens of times. To this day, this older style of very rudimental drumming is much easier to sight read than anything from Mark M. and later (each element is a clearly define rudiment; all put together, the rudiments form solos that are, for all practical purposes, cadences. Matter of fact, in the mid-1960s drum line at Robert E. Lee HS (Midland TX), the cadences were largely drawn from these, or similar, solos. Highly recommended, especially if you are an older rudimental drummer who is looking to relive the earlier years and a simpler style.
